can anyone tell me what the name of the leather protective covering that the galloglass warriors used to wear?

the covering was from head to knees and it was a thick leather protcective cover that they used as chain mail was very expensive,.circa 1400-1500.i need it for a project,..thanks

You may be confusing "galloglass" with "kern" - the galloglaich were heavy infantry eqipped with mail coats over aketons (padded linen jackets) and usually wore an iron helmet.

Kerns were Scots and Irish light infantry, wearing no armour but the usual linen tunic often dyed yellow, with a coat of goatskin (a Shag-rug) worn over it. This is usually described as "short", not head to knees as you suggest.
