Is enamel paint / paint thinner damage plastic models or miniatures?

I especially enamel paints, I use to limn metal for war games. If I use the same paint on plastic models or miniatures, will hurt them?

I have used both plastic models before. I would not use a large amount of solvent in a plastic model. To remove the paint that I used before the brake fluid, and can be stored for later use. I dipped into models for a day or two, take the paint right away. I forgot once and leave it a week or so, and ate the model, ruined. Good luck I hope this helps.
