The USMC scout snipers?
i am very seriously considering joining the marines and becoming a scout sniper. Though i wanted some info on exactly what they are, such as: how large is your group when you head out on a "mission". How long is training? Is there more individualized jobs in the scout snipers section of the marines?
Also i want to know if i have the right build physically.
I am 6'2"
I can run a mile in 6 min and 23 sec. with a 30 pound weight vest
i can run 4 miles constantly with the same weight vest.
i can bench press 180 pounds (probably needs improvement)
I am looking for an answer from a scout sniper or former scout sniper.
While I was never a s/s I was in the infantry so I can give you a little info. Sniper teams work with anywhere from 2-6 men on an op. You must first join the infantry and pass the sniper "indoc", a lengthy physical test. You also have to have a GT score of 100 I think, and be an expert rifleman.
If you pass that test they will accept you to the sniper platoon for continued training and testing. If you prove your worth they will send you to scout sniper school. After several months of school if you pass you become a certified sniper. Very few Marines every make it that far. Discipline and endurance are two of the biggest element to becoming a sniper.
